I came home from work feeling a little less than wonderful Friday night (sick co-workers please stay home and don't share your germs with the rest of us) but I settled myself in on the sofa with some tissues and cough drops to knit anyway. I was at that point with my Swallowtail that I could see the end in sight.
After having had to tink and rip a bit here and there I had made it through the lily of the valley section sprinkled with nupps and now the (nupp-less) border chart was next. I was at that tipping point where I needed to knit until it was done.
I had cast on as scheduled January 1st for the
10 Shawls in 2010 challenge on ravelry. Well, it was almost on schedule. The group was founded by a Norwegian knitter and so the decision was to wait until midnight in Oslo, Norway or Central European Time (CET), regardless of where you lived, to cast on. Oslo is 6 hours ahead of me so when I found out we'd all be following CET I was excited. My plan for New Year's Eve was to be home and ready to knit by 6pm and spend the evening knitting! Heaven. Not everyone's idea of the perfect NYE but it works for me. Well, life intervened and I didn't get to sit and knit until a little after 10:30pm, my time, but the race was on!
Literally, the race was on. The first finished shawl was posted to the FO thread on January 1st!!
And over the next week several more were added to the thread. I had to remind myself that this challenge was not a sprint and I had all year to complete my 10 shawls. But as more and more shawls were finished and posted it motivated me to knit. And today I added mine to the thread!
