Yes, it's me…truant Jenny. Sorry for not keeping up with the posting. I have been getting side tracked lately. Trying to leave comments on blogs, watch TV, and knit. And don't even mention Ravelry. I'm surprised I even remember my log in. I just can't keep up with everything. I am only human. This is the vicious circle I live in.

Okay enough of that. So, I do have some FOs. I think they were end of 07 beginning of 08, like by the 5th. It was so long ago, I don't even remember. I just glad to be done with them. You all remember my Garden of Eden Scarf:

Pattern: None. Simple garter stitch. 24 or 25 stitches across

Materials: 2 balls of Eden from Moda Dea

Needle: 10 1/2

Start Date: Oh God, sometime in the summer

Completion Date: After December 25, 2007

Size: N/A

Okay this yarn drove me insane, hence the long completion time. There are many dropped stitches but you will never see them because of the bobbles in the yarn. I must admit though, the scarf is warm and just the right width to cover my neck. No need for wrapping, which is good because I don't have the length for it. The scarf is pretty, but never again with that yarn.
Next I have my brown stripped socks:

Pattern: None. Just a simple sock pattern.

Materials: 1 ball of clearance yarn from Rosie's. Think it's Trekking, but don't hold me to it. Needle size: 2

Start Date: September 2007

Completion Date: After December 25, 2007

Size: Women's 9

Wasn't crazy about this yarn when I was working it. But since washing, the socks feel much nicer. I wear green and tan a lot, and these sock do look nice under pale green pants. These were my second pair of completed socks.

I gotta say, as I sit here, I'm thinking, "What the hell were you doing all fall?" What else were you knitting?" These are excellent questions that I really need to think upon. I was taking a class. Knitting a few things, that I can remember off the top of my head. But other wise, I'm drawing a blank. I know sometimes when I get home from work, I'm too tired to knit. Like I haven't really knit at all this week. But this fall….I just don't know. Oh well, I'll just have to work harder at getting more FOs And posting :)

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Oh yes. I am one of those people who has her tree up and decorated the day after Thanksgiving. No shopping for me thank you. I take this day off from work every year, specifically for the purpose of decorating my tree. My house, not so much the past two years. As long as I have my tree, I'm happy.

Each one of my ornaments holds a memory for me, and this I must give props to my mom for. From the time I was born, each year she would buy me a different ornament. This way when I left the nest, I had my starter Christmas kit. The top of my tree contains pieces from my baby mobile that she turned into tree ornaments. My mom was and is very crafty. Giver her some fishing line and a hot glue gun, and your house will be decorated. I get my Christmas bug from her, because she always made it a special event. We didn't have a lot of money growing up, but we never felt that way. I have both her and my dad to thank for all those wonderful memories. I also get my creative genes from her too. I am most proud of this Rudolph below.

Prior to knitting, I was into painting wood objects. I would get these at AC Moore, along with the paint and everything else. I made things for both myself and others. Mostly holiday related items. Now, I have never been a good artist or drawer. Faces were always my down fall. Well, one day this Rudy piece caught my eye. It was basically blank wood, just a cutout with holes for the lights. All the details are hand drawn, with paint. I was so nervous when I did this. Especially the eyes, because one mistake, and happy Rudolph, turns into a crazy reindeer. Rudolph is my favorite Christmas thing btw. Psycho analysis later.

Anyway, this is why I am so proud of this piece. It came out perfect, and I only made one or two mistakes. Which I was able to fix. Everything is hand drawn by someone who can't draw.

When my mom saw Rudy for the first time, it brought a tear to her eye. "You did this face? You can't draw faces. Oh my God, my little girl really is crafty." Thanks for another memory mom.

I did manage to get some knitting done over the Thanksgiving weekend as well. My booga bag is now bound off, and I am working on the I cord. (It still blows my mom's mind that I knit and like it.)


I also whipped the Garden of Eden scarf back out as well. I knitted one ball and have attached the second. It should make for a nice length. It is pretty and soft, but a pain to knit. Besides, I want to finish these up and work on other projects. Also, if I win the prize on Jane's blog Grammieknits http://janevdoviak.blogspot.com/ this will lead to me starting yet another project. So you see I need to get this stuff done. BTW, for Jane's contest you have to post something weird about yourself. I have oh so many things to choose from :)

It's Monday....blah

I am stuck in a bit of a rut right now. My Garden of Eden (GOE) scarf is coming along, although it is driving me crazy. Pretty and soft, but difficult to knit with. I did CO and knit a new sock yarn, but ended up having to frog it because I messed up in two separate locations. Don't know what, probably dropped a stitch or something, but I felt compelled to rip it out and start anew. Plus I wasn't happy with the cuff. K1P1 ribbing, but not very elastic. I think it's the yarn. I bought it on sale at the LYS, but it didn't have a band. I believe it's Austerman. It has a string-like feeling, and not as nice as my first sock yarn. (You never forget your first do you?) The colors are variegated so I do like the way it was coming out, except for my boo-boos of course. I hope to have something posted by the end of the week, picture included. Suzy bring in your camera Friday. This is the only picture I could find that comes close to what I have. My ball is probably discontinued or something. Or maybe it's a different manufacturer.



And my poor poncho has been completely forgotten about. Not really forgotten, just ignored. I guess because the yarn is kind of boring, although when I do finally finish, it will be beautiful. Other than that, not much else going on in my knitting world. Haven't really purchased any yarn, because I feel I need to decrease my stash some what. Maybe I'll go next weekend and purchase some.

BB8...can't stand the finalists, don't get me started. At least Survivor is starting soon. Yes, I love Survivor, don't even go there. Never finished the witch of cologne, she was working my nerves. So I have started a classic. Good so far, but lets see how long that lasts. Colts are 2-0, yea! Happy about that. And hockey season is about to get under way, so I'm very excited about that.

I have been warned....

Hey all! I have been warned by a close associate [guess who :)] to post the pictures of my scarf. This scarf has been started several times, and is now staying on 10.5 needles.




Yes, it is fluffy and soft, however the yarn is a pain to work with. It is Eden by Moda Dea. It has been in my stash calling my name, since it matches my winter coat perfectly. Suzy Girl picked it up for me on clearance, back in the day when I first started knitting. I was origanlly going to alternate it with a solid color yarn I found that actually matches pretty well. I figured contrasting it would look cute. Okay, well that's so not going to happen, due to the degree of difficulty when working with eden yarn. Hmmm...I shall call this project ...my Garden of Eden Scarf.

I didn't work on this last night, because I was busy watching Jane Austin's Pride and Predjudice. It is a 1995 mini series version with Colin Firth as Darcy. It is absolutly faithful to the book. I still have part three to go, so maybe tonight before Big Brother comes on. Sorry but I like some reality tv. Jane Austin is my #1 author, and has been since high school. She is witty and sarcastic as she portrays the times she lives in. I haven't seen the current movie "Becoming JA", although I would like to. I believe next year the BBC will be showing all new versions of JA's 6 novels. I will be buying those DVDs.

What else...Oh, my current book, Witch of Cologne, is starting to bore me, so I am on the prowl for something good. I'm sure I can come up with something. Take care until next time!
